Chantelle Morvay-Adams
For today’s blog post I will be talking about our guest lecturer, Chantelle Morvay-Adams. I would like to start by just appreciating how strong this woman is. She has/is going through the loopholes that all parents require to go through to gain access and support for their children. However, Chantelle has gone above and beyond to create support systems as well as actively lobby and be an activist for these children. One thing that I particularly took away from this presentation is the importance of teacher attitude. We will inevitably run into situations where the parents will refuse or resist against their child needing extra support out of fear or denial, and a positive teacher attitude can help with this transition to ensure the student gets all the resources that they need. As many of you know, I plan on doing my master’s degree in inclusive education, so I am very passionate about these types of situations. Positive attitude and language, lobby for adequate resources, open lines of communication with past teachers/parents/doctors are all strategies that I took away from this presentation and I am very grateful for Chantelle taking the time to come and speak with us. I hope you all have a great week!
