Hey diary, guess who!
Today I will be discussing the topics that we discussed on Monday sept 20th. We talked about FIPPA and the laws that we are subject to once we become teachers involving social media. With this age of technology, almost everyone is on social media, but as teachers and role models we need to be very careful on what we post on social media. We are also responsible for the protection of our students privacy and information when use of online resources are used in the classroom setting. I think it is very important to give students an opportunity to use resources that doesn’t require them to have an online presence and to be very honest and upfront about where their information is going.
We also discussed the use of online resources created by other teachers and the importance of giving credit to creators. In this age when the internet is so filled with great resources and information, we must be very careful to not plagiarize anyones work as well as be able to teach our students the same.
We had a great and open conversation about the film Most Likely to Succeed which I thought was super fun and engaging! It’s great to see that everyone is comfortable talking openly about their perspectives and am looking forward to more of that in future classes!
Cheers, Brian
